Cold Colours - Green, Blue, and Purple

Cold colours are colours that tend to make you think of cold, dark things, such as snow or shadows.

Green

Green is the fourth colour of the rainbow, putting itself between yellow and blue. It is one of the complementary colours, along with orange and purple.

The colour green naturally derives itself in several different ways - leaves are green due to chlorophyll, and emeralds due to it containing chromium. It is associated with nature, and jealousy or envy.

Blue

Blue is the fifth colour of the rainbow, placing it between green and purple. The colour purple is sometimes replaced or bumped back by the addition of indigo. It is a primary colour, and can be used with red to make purple, and yellow to make green.

The colour blue can be found in many fruits and birds, and is most commonly associated with things such as intelligence, honesty, and sadness.

The table below demonstrates several different shades of blue:
Colour Colour Name Pigments Mixed

Light Blue Blue, white

Purple

Purple is the sixth and final colour of the rainbow. It is a complementary colour, and can be mixed with red and blue.

It is generally associated with royalty and empathy.

It can be found naturally in many flowers, as well as gemstones such as amethyst.
